Art History: Bernice Akamine
Bernice Akamine’s contemporary Native American baskets are so lovely. I just want to hold this one.
“The impetus behind the feather work is a cultural connection to the work of my Hawaiian ancestors, the ahu ula, feather capes; lei hulu, feather lei; kahili, feather standard and other feather uses. When I work with feathers, there is a quiet concentration almost becoming a meditation in isolation.” Akamine
